6 Tips for Planning the Ultimate Celebration
So life has given you a reason to celebrate – great! If you’re unsure where to start, we recommend reading the following steps to ensure your planning is stress-free.
1.GATHER INSPO PICS FROM INSTAGRAM AND PINTEREST
Turn to social media platforms like Pinterest and Instagram to search for inspiration pictures. You may already have a very clear vision of what you want but there’s also a chance you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there. The important thing is to not overthink it. Create a board or folder and save images that speak to you, images that are automatically aesthetically pleasing to you. After you have a collection, you’ll soon be able to see that there’s a certain look or theme that you naturally gravitate towards. This will help guide you in establishing a direction for your celebration. We also suggest saving images of particular details that you like. Maybe it’s a specific shape of confetti or the way a ribbon has been tied or the colour of a cookie. It’s these small details that create a huge impact.
2. DECIDE ON THE NUMBER OF GUESTS
The number of guests you invite should be carefully considered. It affects your budget and potentially the atmosphere on the day of the event. Smaller celebrations are more intimate affairs while a larger bash may have a more festive vibe to it. Both are lovely, it just depends on what you’re after. If you have a set budget then a limited number of guests will allow you to splash out on those nice-to-have extras that you may not be able to include if you’re catering to a larger crowd.
3. SET YOUR PRIORITIES
We’ve never met a client who doesn’t prioritise certain aspects of their celebration over others. While every element is important and should be well-considered, there are always going to be certain ones that mean more to our clients and for different reasons. For example, some people aren’t too fussed about the finer details of their catering menu but the DJ playlist and party favours are given extra attention. Or perhaps you’re someone who cares a lot about the cake but is happy to have some flexibility in terms of decor and styling. Think about your priorities and communicate this well with whoever is involved in bringing your celebration to life.
4. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A WOW FACTOR
Every great celebration has a “wow factor”. It’s the element that people notice immediately and talk about for days. It’s something that everyone wants to photograph and share on social media and it’s often beautiful to look at. The current trend is balloon arches but other ideas include backdrop installations where people can take pictures, hanging ceiling decorations, personalised cookies, beautifully garnished beverages, an intricately designed cake, or dramatic lighting.
5. HAVE REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS
When planning a celebration of any size it’s important to be realistic about what can be achieved with the time and budget available. When you set about your planning with reasonable expectations you won’t be unnecessarily disappointed at the outcome.
